Deakin University - Australia

Deakin University is one of Australia's younger universities (it was established in 1974). Its four campuses - in metropolitan Melbourne, in Geelong (where there are two campuses) and in the regional centre of Warrnambool - currently provide courses to 33,000 students, including more than 6,500 international students. Deakin successfully combines a university's traditional focus on excellence in teaching and research with a desire to challenge conventional practices and to seek new ways of developing and delivering courses. From the outset, the University has been known for its innovative and flexible models of learning (e.g. on-campus, off-campus, workplace, distance). Its courses are always relevant, practical and up-to-date. It maintains close links with industry and professional groups, including innovative R&D and industry partnerships, and through its DeakinPrime commercial division is the preferred continuing education provider in workplaces across the nation.
